Woodside Signs Long-Term LNG Supply Deal with Turkey’s BOTAŞ

Woodside has signed a long-term LNG supply agreement with Turkey’s BOTAŞ, securing up to nine years of deliveries beginning in 2030 from its Louisiana LNG project and global portfolio.

(P&GJ) — Woodside and Türkiye’s state-owned pipeline operator Boru Hatları ile Petrol Taşıma A.Ş. (BOTAŞ) have finalized a long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) sale and purchase agreement, converting a previously announced non-binding deal into a firm supply commitment.

Under the agreement, Woodside will supply BOTAŞ with approximately 5.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas equivalent, or about 0.5 million tonnes per annum of LNG, over a term of up to nine years beginning in 2030.

The contract formalizes a Heads of Agreement signed in September and secures LNG volumes primarily from Woodside’s under-construction Louisiana LNG project, as well as from the company’s broader global portfolio.

“This supply agreement with BOTAŞ represents a strategic milestone for Woodside given it is our first long-term LNG supply arrangement with the Turkish market,” said Mark Abbotsford, Woodside’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer. “It is yet another demonstration of the strength and flexibility of Woodside’s diversified portfolio and ability to deliver on our global ambitions.

“Woodside also appreciates the support shown by the Turkish and United States governments following the announcement of the HOA earlier this year.”

The agreement strengthens commercial energy ties between the U.S. and Türkiye and positions Woodside to expand its long-term relationship with BOTAŞ, supporting energy security and economic growth in both countries.
