GasEntec to Build Dakar LNG Import Terminal to Supply Senegal Power Plants

GasEntec will deliver an LNG import terminal in Dakar, Senegal, supporting power generation and industrial demand with regasification infrastructure targeted for startup in 2027.

(P&GJ) — GasEntec has been awarded a contract to deliver a new LNG import terminal in Dakar, Senegal, aimed at supplying natural gas to power generation and industrial users as the country expands its energy infrastructure.

The project includes a jetty-based LNG regasification unit and associated onshore facilities, which will supply gas to a 300-MW combined-cycle power plant in Cap des Biches, along with other industrial and power sector demand.

The terminal is expected to support Senegal’s efforts to diversify fuel supply and strengthen energy reliability, particularly as demand for electricity continues to grow.

GasEntec is targeting first gas on an accelerated timeline, with full operations expected in the first half of 2027.

Babacar Tall, CEO of ELTON Logistics & Services, said the project is intended to improve energy supply and support industrial development.

“This terminal is an important step in strengthening Senegal’s energy supply and supporting industrial growth,” Tall said.

GasEntec Chairman Arieh Mimran said the project reflects continued investment in LNG infrastructure to support emerging markets.

“We are supporting the development of infrastructure needed to expand access to reliable energy,” Mimran said.

The Dakar LNG terminal is expected to become a key import point for natural gas in West Africa, supplying multiple end users through a combination of marine and onshore infrastructure.
