Kinder Morgan Strikes $505 Million Deal for Houston-Area Monument Pipeline

Kinder Morgan will acquire the 225-mile Monument Pipeline system serving the Houston area for $505 million, expanding its Texas intrastate natural gas network and strengthening LNG and industrial connectivity.

(P&GJ) — Kinder Morgan has agreed to acquire the Monument Pipeline system, a natural gas network serving the Houston metropolitan area, for $505 million in cash, the company said in its first-quarter earnings release.

The transaction includes roughly 225 miles of pipeline infrastructure providing transportation and storage services to local gas utilities, LNG shippers and industrial customers.

Kinder Morgan said the system is supported by long-term, take-or-pay contracts with creditworthy customers, with an average remaining contract term of about nine years.

The acquisition is expected to complement the company’s existing Texas intrastate pipeline network and support continued demand growth tied to LNG exports and industrial activity along the Gulf Coast.

Kinder Morgan said the deal reflects an expected medium-term investment multiple of less than eight times EBITDA and includes additional upside through contracted growth under existing agreements.

The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions.
