(P&GJ) — Repair efforts are continuing in Washington County, Iowa, following a weekend explosion and fire involving a natural gas liquids pipeline operated by Enterprise Products Partners, according to local coverage by CBS2 Iowa.

Emergency calls began coming in on Feb. 14 reporting a blast and heavy flames near the 2000 block of 325th Street outside Brighton. First responders secured the scene as fire crews worked to contain the blaze.

The impacted line is owned and operated by Enterprise Products Partners through Mid-America Pipeline Company (MAPL). The system transports natural gas liquids from the Conway, Kansas hub to refineries, petrochemical facilities and propane distribution markets across the Midwest.

Company officials said the affected section of pipeline was isolated after the release of natural gas liquids and that repair work is ongoing. Enterprise also stated it is coordinating with state and federal regulators as the investigation continues.

The cause of the explosion has not yet been determined, as reported by CBS2 Iowa.
