Worley Secures Qatar LNG CO₂ Sequestration Engineering Role

Worley has secured a detailed engineering contract for QatarEnergy LNG’s CO₂ sequestration project in Qatar, a carbon capture initiative designed to permanently store 4.3 million tonnes of CO₂ per year.

(P&GJ) — Worley Limited has been awarded a contract by Samsung C&T Corporation to deliver detailed engineering services for the QatarEnergy LNG Carbon Dioxide Sequestration Project in Qatar.

The project is designed to permanently store approximately 4.3 million metric tonnes per year of CO₂, supporting Qatar’s efforts to reduce emissions tied to LNG production.

Under the agreement, Worley will provide detailed engineering services to Samsung C&T. The work will be executed from Worley’s Qatar office, with support from its Global Integrated Delivery center in India and additional technical teams in Australia.

The award follows Worley’s previous work on the project’s front-end engineering design (FEED), positioning the company to continue into the detailed engineering phase.

“We’re proud to continue our collaboration with Samsung C&T on this landmark project. This award reflects our capability in CCUS and our commitment to supporting our customers as they invest in technologies that help decarbonize energy production,” said Chris Ashton, Chief Executive Officer of Worley.

Once operational, the LNG sequestration facility is expected to play a role in lowering greenhouse-gas emissions from LNG operations and advancing carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) deployment in the region.
