Southwest Gas Starts Natural Gas Pipeline Replacement in Yuma, Arizona

Southwest Gas has begun replacing a natural gas pipeline in Yuma, Arizona, with construction expected to continue through December. Separate cathodic protection work is also underway to support the gas distribution system.

(P&GJ) — Southwest Gas has begun a natural gas pipeline replacement project in Yuma, Arizona, with construction expected to continue through December.

Beginning Aug. 3, contractors for Southwest Gas will replace a natural gas pipeline along 8th Street and Avenue B between Clifford Way and 5th Street. The project will require traffic restrictions and periodic road closures during construction, although access to businesses and residences will be maintained.

City officials advised motorists to follow posted traffic control signs and use caution while traveling through the work zone.

In a separate project, contractors with Accurate Corrosion Control and Southwest Gas continue installing a cathodic protection well along 9th Street between 8th Avenue and 7th Avenue. The work, which began July 20, requires closure of the westbound lane with flaggers directing traffic through the remaining lane.

The cathodic protection project is expected to be completed by early August.
