Turkey’s BOTAS, Edison Explore LNG, Gas Supply Partnership
Turkey’s BOTAS and Italy’s Edison signed an agreement to explore LNG supply opportunities and a potential hydrogen-compatible gas interconnector between the two countries.
(Reuters) — Turkey's state energy company BOTAS said on May 22 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Italian energy company Edison to explore potential opportunities for cooperation in the fields of natural gas and LNG.
- Under the agreement, natural gas and liquefied natural gas supply opportunities and joint commercial prospects will be assessed, BOTAS said in a statement.
- A joint working group will be established to examine the technical, commercial and regulatory aspects of a potential hydrogen-compatible natural gas interconnector between Turkey and Italy it also said.
- BOTAS said it is aimed that "the strategic partnership" with Edison will make a significant contribution to the development of both Turkey and Italy, connections within the Mediterranean basin, and regional energy supply security.
