Wood Lands Bul Hanine Pipeline Design Scope Offshore Qatar
Wood will design 25 subsea pipelines for QatarEnergy’s Bul Hanine redevelopment project offshore Qatar as part of efforts to expand production and extend field life.
(P&GJ) — Wood has secured a contract from China Offshore Oil Engineering Company (COOEC) to provide detailed design work for QatarEnergy’s Bul Hanine EPIC2 redevelopment project offshore Qatar.
Under the agreement, Wood will design 25 subsea pipelines tied to the redevelopment of the aging offshore field, located about 120 kilometers east of the Qatari coastline. The scope also includes crossing analysis for 15 umbilicals and two power cables, along with engineering work aimed at managing pipeline crossings and thermal expansion to support long-term system integrity.
The project is intended to help QatarEnergy increase production capacity and extend the operating life of the Bul Hanine field. Wood said the work will build on its previous involvement in the development after completing pre-FEED and FEED studies for the project.
“Wood has a strong track record in delivering offshore detailed design and optimizing installation solutions for complex subsea systems,” Gerry Traynor, Wood’s regional president for the Middle East, Africa and Caspian region, said in a statement. He added that the company’s collaboration with COOEC is aimed at supporting QatarEnergy’s efforts to boost production from mature offshore assets.
COOEC Deputy Director Wu Zhixing said the contract further expands the company’s role in Middle East offshore developments and reflects its experience delivering large-scale offshore engineering, procurement, installation and construction projects.
