McDermott Wins EPCIC Contract for Brunei Offshore Gas, Export Pipeline Project
McDermott won an EPCIC contract from PETRONAS Carigali Brunei for a major offshore gas project that includes subsea infrastructure and a new export pipeline supplying Brunei’s LNG sector.
HOUSTON (P&GJ) — McDermott International has been awarded an engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) contract by PETRONAS Carigali Brunei Ltd. for a major offshore natural gas development project in Brunei Darussalam.
The contract includes the subsea production system and associated infrastructure—umbilicals, risers, and flowlines—linking six wells to a floating production unit for gas recovery. McDermott will also handle EPCIC services for a gas export pipeline, which will transport feedstock to Brunei’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities.
The award follows McDermott’s completion of front-end engineering design (FEED), optimization, and readiness planning for the project.
“Transitioning from FEED to a full EPCIC award underscores McDermott’s engineering excellence and proven ability to deliver complex subsea projects across the region,” said Mahesh Swaminathan, Senior Vice President of Subsea and Floating Facilities. “It also reinforces McDermott's collaborative approach in working with customers to drive engineering value. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with PETRONAS Carigali Brunei and its partners to advance this project safely and efficiently.”
Project management will be led from McDermott’s engineering center in Kuala Lumpur, supported by additional offices and sites across Asia.
The field is expected to support Brunei’s domestic gas supply and bolster long-term LNG export capacity, marking one of the country’s most significant conventional gas projects in recent years.
