Wood Secures 10-Year Maintenance Deal for NextDecade’s Rio Grande LNG Project
The deal expands Wood’s LNG portfolio and will create more than 100 local jobs while supporting safe, reliable operations at one of the Gulf Coast’s largest new LNG projects.
(P&GJ) — Engineering and consulting firm Wood has signed a 10-year maintenance contract with NextDecade Corp. to support operations at the Rio Grande LNG export facility under development near Brownsville, Texas.
The long-term agreement covers comprehensive maintenance services for the roughly 1,000-acre liquefaction site, designed to deliver reliable U.S. natural gas supplies to global markets.
Wood said it is already implementing mechanical integrity programs and providing consulting on operational readiness for the facility.
“This contract boosts Wood’s position in the U.S. LNG market and reinforces our commitment to supporting the expansion of U.S. LNG export capability,” said Steve Nicol, executive president of operations at Wood. “With over 50 years of experience maintaining U.S. Gulf Coast facilities, we will support NextDecade to ensure safe and reliable LNG production in Texas.”
The company plans to open a new office in the Rio Grande Valley and partner with local colleges to recruit apprentices. The contract is expected to create more than 100 jobs, with a focus on local hiring and workforce training.
