Audubon to Oversee Development of AMIGO LNG Export Project in Sonora, Mexico
Audubon Companies has been selected as owner’s engineer and advisor for the 7.8 MTPA AMIGO LNG terminal in Sonora, Mexico. The project, backed by LNG Alliance and Epcilon LNG, will strengthen Mexico’s role in global LNG exports.
(P&GJ) — Audubon Companies has been selected as owner’s engineer and advisor for the 7.8 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) AMIGO LNG export terminal planned in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico.
The project, developed by AMIGO LNG SA de CV—a joint venture between Epcilon LNG LLC and LNG Alliance Pte Ltd.—will leverage its location near the U.S. Permian Basin to supply LNG to global markets.
As owner’s engineer, Audubon will provide technical oversight for engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning, and operations. The company will also advise on contractor selection and performance, with a focus on modular construction and risk mitigation.
“We’re honored to be selected as owner’s engineer and advisor for this world-class LNG development in Mexico,” said David Robison, Audubon CEO. “Our team is driven by a unique combination of LNG expertise and an unwavering commitment to the highest international standards in environment, safety, and quality.”
LNG Alliance CEO Dr. Muthu Chezhian said Audubon’s early involvement in concept development and front-end engineering (FEED) helped shape the project. “The firm’s execution experience—ranging from offshore topsides to onshore processing facilities—coupled with its midscale LNG expertise, gives us confidence that this project will be delivered safely, effectively, and on time.”
The AMIGO terminal is one of the most significant midscale LNG projects under development in North America and is expected to strengthen Mexico’s role in global LNG exports.
