Woodside Awards $300-Million Tugboat Contract for Louisiana LNG Project

Woodside has awarded a $300-million contract to build tugboats supporting marine operations at its Louisiana LNG project. The vessels will assist LNG tanker movements, highlighting ongoing investment in export infrastructure along the U.S. Gulf Coast.

(P&GJ) — Woodside Energy has awarded a contract valued at more than $300 million for the design and construction of four tugboats to support operations at its Louisiana LNG export project.

The vessels will be built at C&C Marine and Repair in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, with delivery scheduled for 2028. The tugboats will provide towing services for LNG carriers calling at the terminal under a long-term arrangement, supporting safe and efficient marine operations.

The contract brings Woodside’s total commitments to Louisiana-based suppliers for the project to more than $1 billion, reflecting continued investment in Gulf Coast LNG infrastructure.

Construction of the vessels is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026. The project will support shipbuilding activity and local employment, while expanding the marine support capabilities required for LNG export operations.

Louisiana LNG is targeting first production later in the decade as development progresses.
