Poland’s Gaz-System to Boost Gas Pipeline Capacity to Ukraine

Poland’s state pipeline operator Gaz-System is increasing gas transmission capacity to Ukraine following upgrades at a key border metering station, strengthening cross-border supply flows amid ongoing infrastructure risks.

(Reuters) — Polish pipeline operator Gaz-System will increase gas transmission capacity to Ukraine between February and April, it said in a statement on Jan. 19.

Russia has been attacking Ukraine's energy sector on an almost daily basis since last year, targeting electricity producers and transmission systems as well as gas production and transportation facilities.

Gaz-System said it was increasing the total capacity of gas transported to Ukraine to 720,000 cubic meters per hour from 600,000 cubic meters per hour.

The increase in capacity is thanks to a previously announced modernization of the metering station in Hermanowice, which was completed in December, Gaz-System said.
