Tripura–Mizoram Gas Pipeline Nears Midpoint as Construction Reaches 45%
Construction of the Tripura–Mizoram natural gas pipeline has reached 45% completion, moving the Northeast India gas grid closer to extending pipeline supply into Mizoram.
(P&GJ) — Construction of the natural gas pipeline linking India’s northeastern states of Tripura and Mizoram has reached roughly 45% completion, marking a key milestone for the regional gas network, according to The Economic Times.
The 119.5-kilometer (about 74 miles) pipeline is part of the broader North East Natural Gas Pipeline Grid and is intended to extend gas access to Mizoram by connecting it with existing infrastructure in Tripura. Officials said work is progressing across multiple sections of the route despite challenging terrain.
The project is being developed to support industrial activity, city gas distribution and cleaner energy use in the region once completed. The pipeline is expected to play a role in expanding natural gas availability to households and commercial users in Mizoram, which currently lacks pipeline connectivity.
As reported by The Economic Times, officials said the pipeline is targeted for completion by 2027, subject to construction progress and regulatory clearances.
