Honeywell Completes Johnson Matthey Catalyst Technologies Acquisition
Honeywell has completed its acquisition of Johnson Matthey's Catalyst Technologies business, expanding its portfolio of refining, petrochemical and renewable fuels process technologies.
(P&GJ) — Honeywell Technologies has completed its acquisition of Johnson Matthey's Catalyst Technologies business in a £1.325 billion ($1.77 billion) all-cash transaction, expanding its process technology portfolio across refining, petrochemicals and renewable fuels.
The acquisition broadens Honeywell's offerings by combining catalyst technologies with its existing process technologies, automation systems and Honeywell Forge digital platform. The company said the combined portfolio will allow it to provide more integrated solutions to customers across the energy and industrial sectors.
Ken West, president and CEO of Honeywell Technologies' Process Technology business, said the acquisition strengthens the company's ability to deliver process technologies that improve operational performance.
"By combining Johnson Matthey's differentiated catalyst expertise with our leading technologies and digital capabilities, we are creating a strong platform for future growth while enabling our customers to immediately unlock the benefits of a more robust set of offerings."
The acquisition follows Honeywell Technologies' separation of its Aerospace Technologies business, now operating as Honeywell Aerospace, and the 2025 spin-off of its Advanced Materials business, Solstice Advanced Materials.
Honeywell said it has completed approximately $11.5 billion in acquisitions since 2023, including Compressor Controls Corporation, SCADAfence, the LNG business from Air Products, Sundyne and Li-ion Tamer, while continuing to streamline its portfolio through divestitures. The company sold its personal protective equipment business in 2024 and expects to complete previously announced sales of its Productivity Solutions and Services and Warehouse and Workflow Solutions businesses later this year.
