Worker Killed in Pipeline Construction Accident

Worker loses his life in pipeline construction accident in Colorado.

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Authorities say a 30-year-old man was killed in a pipeline construction accident near the western Colorado town of Rifle.

The Glenwood Springs Post Independent reports (https://goo.gl/Woq4BB ) Juan Manuel Tapia Tequida, of Grand Junction, accidentally loosened a board Tuesday that was holding three heavy duty pipes that weighed between 1,200 and 2,000 pounds each. The pipes started to roll, trapping Tequida underneath in a trench.

Tequida was an employee of a construction company contracted to install the pipeline. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is aware of the death, which has been ruled an accident.
