Martin Midstream Names John Scott to Lead Land Transportation as Murry Retires
Martin Midstream Partners is set for a leadership change in its land transportation division, with John Scott stepping into the role as longtime executive Johnnie Murry retires at year-end.
(P&GJ) — Martin Midstream Partners will see a leadership transition in its land transportation unit at the start of 2026, following the retirement of longtime executive Johnnie Murry.
The company said Murry, Senior Vice President of Land Transportation, will retire effective Dec. 31, 2025, ending a 49-year career in the energy and transportation sector, including 38 years with Martin companies. He will be succeeded by John Scott, who has been named Vice President of Land Transportation effective Jan. 1, 2026.
Murry joined the Martin organization in 1988 as plant manager at Berry Petroleum Company in South Arkansas before transferring to Martin Transport Inc. in 1999, where he assumed responsibility for the company’s trucking operations. His career also included 11 years with Crystal Oil Company, and he has been active in industry organizations such as the American Trucking Association and National Tank Truck Carriers.
“Johnnie’s dedication and leadership have been instrumental in the growth and success of our land transportation division,” said Bob Bondurant, President and Chief Executive Officer of Martin Midstream GP LLC. “We thank him for his decades of service, his focus on operational excellence, and his significant contributions to the company. He will be greatly missed by everyone here at Martin.”
Scott most recently served as Vice President of Sales and Business Development and has spent 23 years with Martin Transport. He began his career in 2002 as a backup dispatcher in Vidor, Texas, and later held roles including Dispatch Supervisor, Dispatch Operations Manager and Vice President of Operations, a position he held for nine years.
“John has consistently demonstrated strong leadership and a deep understanding of our operations,” Bondurant said. “His diverse experience within the company, from dispatch operations to sales and business development, makes him the ideal choice to lead our land transportation efforts into the future.”
In his new role, Scott will oversee all aspects of Martin Midstream’s land transportation division and remains active in industry groups including the Texas Trucking Association and the Florida Trucking Association.
