Saipem Secures $425 Million Sakarya Offshore Pipeline Contract

Saipem has secured a $425 million offshore contract to install 153 km (95 miles) of subsea pipelines for Turkey’s Sakarya gas field, expanding midstream infrastructure tied to the Goktepe discovery in the Black Sea.

(P&GJ) — Saipem has been awarded a new offshore contract valued at approximately $425 million by Turkish Petroleum OTC for additional work tied to the third phase of the Sakarya natural gas field development in the Turkish sector of the Black Sea.

The scope covers the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of three additional subsea pipelines totaling about 153 kilometers (95 miles), along with related subsea structures. The new pipelines will connect the recently discovered Goktepe gas field to the Sakarya Phase 3 facilities.

The Goktepe field is located in 2,200 meters (about 7,220 feet) of water depth, roughly 80 kilometers (50 miles) from the Sakarya Phase 3 development, according to the company. The new pipeline infrastructure is expected to support increased natural gas production from the broader Sakarya development.

The contract follows Saipem’s September 2025 award for Phase 3 of the Sakarya project and will be executed in continuity with that work. The project is expected to span approximately two and a half years, with offshore installation activities scheduled for the second half of 2027.

Saipem said the offshore campaign will be carried out using its Castorone pipelay vessel.

The Sakarya field is a cornerstone of Turkey’s offshore gas development strategy, and the latest award further expands Saipem’s role in delivering subsea pipeline infrastructure in the Black Sea.
