Cheniere Gets Approval to Introduce Gas Into Final Corpus Christi LNG Train

FERC has authorized Cheniere Energy to introduce feed gas into the warm end of Midscale Train 7 at the Corpus Christi Stage 3 LNG project, marking another commissioning milestone for the Texas export facility.

(P&GJ) — Cheniere Energy has received Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approval to introduce feed gas into the warm end of Midscale Train 7 at its Corpus Christi Stage 3 LNG project in South Texas, marking another milestone in commissioning the export facility.

The July 28 authorization allows Corpus Christi Liquefaction LLC, a Cheniere subsidiary, to begin introducing natural gas into Train 7 after FERC staff determined the company had satisfied the applicable conditions outlined in the commission's 2019 authorization order. The approval follows a series of inspections and reviews conducted throughout 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026.

FERC emphasized that the authorization is limited to introducing feed gas into the warm end of Midscale Train 7 and does not extend to other portions of the terminal.

"This approval does not grant CCL the authority to construct, commission, or introduce hazardous fluids to other project facilities at the LNG terminal. Additional authorizations will be released once CCL has demonstrated full compliance with the conditions of the Order," the commission wrote.

The commission also reminded Cheniere that the project must continue complying with all remaining FERC conditions, as well as applicable U.S. Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) requirements governing LNG facilities.
