Fugro Wins Survey Contract for Greater Sunrise, Bayu Undan Pipeline Projects

Fugro has secured a contract to perform offshore surveys supporting pipeline routing and engineering for the Greater Sunrise and Bayu Undan energy developments in Timor-Leste.

(P&GJ) — Fugro has been awarded a contract to conduct offshore surveys supporting pipeline planning and engineering for the Greater Sunrise and Bayu Undan energy developments in Timor-Leste.

The survey program will provide geophysical, seismic and autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) data to support pipeline routing, engineering design, geohazard assessments and offshore construction planning for the two projects.

The work will cover offshore areas in water depths exceeding 3,000 meters and includes geophysical, seismic, environmental and AUV surveys designed to characterize seabed conditions before pipeline development.

Project mobilization is scheduled to begin during the third quarter of 2026, with offshore survey operations expected to start in the fourth quarter and continue for about three months.

Fugro said survey data will be processed through its regional data centers in Kuala Lumpur and Perth, while its Remote Operations Centres will provide real-time operational support throughout the campaign.

The Greater Sunrise and Bayu Undan developments are expected to play a key role in Timor-Leste's future offshore energy infrastructure, with the survey results supporting pipeline routing decisions and subsequent engineering work.
