Cheniere Marks Completion Milestone for Corpus Christi Train 6
Cheniere has reached substantial completion of Train 6 at its Corpus Christi LNG Stage 3 expansion, bringing the company closer to adding significant new liquefaction capacity in Texas.
(P&GJ) — Cheniere Energy has reached substantial completion of Train 6 at its Corpus Christi Liquefaction (CCL) Stage 3 project in Texas, moving the company closer to completing a major LNG capacity expansion later this year.
Train 6 is the sixth of seven midscale liquefaction trains being constructed as part of the Stage 3 expansion at the Corpus Christi LNG export facility.
Cheniere said the train was completed ahead of schedule. The company continues to work with engineering, procurement and construction contractor Bechtel on the remaining portion of the project and expects to complete the full expansion in 2026.
Once the seven-train Stage 3 project is fully operational, Corpus Christi LNG's production capacity is expected to exceed 25 million tonnes per year (MMtpy), while Cheniere's total LNG production capacity is projected to surpass 55 MMtpy.
The company is also developing its Midscale Trains 8 & 9 and Debottlenecking Project at Corpus Christi, which is expected to add approximately 5 MMtpy of additional liquefaction capacity by late 2028.
Beyond its current construction projects, Cheniere has more than 40 mtpa of proposed brownfield LNG expansion projects in the regulatory permitting process. If approved and constructed, those projects could increase the company's LNG production capacity to more than 100 mtpa by the mid-2030s.
