Forsite Launches AI Platform for Pipeline Patrol and Leak Detection
Forsite has launched PatrolView, an AI-powered aerial intelligence platform that combines pipeline patrol, leak detection, threat monitoring and DOT compliance into a single solution for North American pipeline operators.
(P&GJ) — Forsite has introduced PatrolView, an aerial intelligence platform designed to combine pipeline patrol, threat detection, leak monitoring, compliance reporting and vegetation management into a single system for pipeline operators. The platform is already in production with multiple North American operators.
PatrolView consolidates aerial imagery, AI-powered threat detection, liquid and methane leak monitoring, vegetation planning and U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance into one platform. According to Forsite, operators can deploy the platform as a complete solution or adopt individual capabilities over time while integrating it with existing patrol providers and ArcGIS environments.
Forsite said the platform builds on more than 85 years of aerial patrol experience and supports approximately 2.2 million miles of DOT-required patrols annually. The company operates from 22 aerial bases and serves more than 70 pipeline operators across North America, including several large interstate transmission and midstream companies.
Available capabilities include AI-based detection of third-party encroachments and excavation activity, hyperspectral sensing for liquid hydrocarbon leaks, methane plume detection, high-resolution aerial imagery, predictive threat analytics, automated patrol reporting, vegetation planning and LiDAR data collection for geohazard assessments.
Forsite said PatrolView combines multi-sensor aerial technology with more than 30 million training images and can provide operators with historical imagery, compliance records and change detection through either a standalone dashboard or direct integration with ArcGIS.
Vice President of Oil & Gas Kris Covey said the platform is intended to replace multiple standalone monitoring programs with a unified operating picture.
"Pipeline operators have historically managed patrol, threat detection, leak monitoring, compliance and vegetation as separate programs. PatrolView brings them into one offering. We risk-rank threats and third-party activity, surface leading indicators alongside critical issues, and give operators one place to see site changes and aerial intelligence flight over flight."
Covey said the goal is to help operators turn multiple data sources into actionable information.
