Saipem Wins $1 Billion Saudi Gas Compression Plant Contract

Saipem has secured a contract worth about $1 billion for EPC work on the Uthmaniyah Gas Compression Plant in Saudi Arabia, a project aimed at extending production from the kingdom's Uthmaniyah gas field.

(P&GJ) — Saipem has secured a contract worth approximately €900 million ($1 billion) for engineering, procurement and construction work on the Uthmaniyah Gas Compression Plant in Saudi Arabia.

The 42-month contract was awarded to Saipem Nasser Saeed Al-Hajri Contracting Company (SNSH), a joint venture between Saipem and Saudi contractor Nasser Saeed Al-Hajri and Partners Company for Contracting.

The project includes construction of a new compression facility serving the Uthmaniyah non-associated gas field. The plant is designed to help extend the field's production life and support growing natural gas demand in Saudi Arabia.

The project marks the first EPC award under Saudi Arabia's National EPC Champion Program, an initiative aimed at expanding local engineering, procurement and construction capabilities and increasing the use of domestic resources and expertise.

To support the program, Saipem and Nasser Saeed Al-Hajri established SNSH in Saudi Arabia, combining Saipem's engineering and project management experience with the local contractor's construction capabilities.

The contract further expands Saipem's presence in Saudi Arabia, one of the company's key markets for onshore energy infrastructure development.
